Leanne Shaw
I’m Leanne Shaw , a UK based make-up artist who has been working in the industry for over 20 years. I specialise in work for beauty , fashion and advertising photography covering everything from global campaigns, TV commercials to beauty shoots and e-commerce.
I am equally at home in the studio or out on location and I have a catalogue of experience on outdoor shoots from mountains locations to cities and beaches .
Each job requires a unique approach and I am always keen to understand the brief working with clients on mood boards to discuss what they need, whether that’s a full on beauty look or something more natural. My skills cover both hair and make up as well as grooming.
The models I work with each bring their own personality to the shoot and as one of the first people they meet my job is often to settle them into the day and help them feel at ease on set so they can do their best job. Working outdoors on location also means that I can be very adaptable as the weather may require a change of plan or look at any moment.
I enjoy working as part of a team and feel I am skilled at reading the room . I’m sociable, good humoured and quick to understand the people I’m working with and what’s needed from me for each job . I can work on my own but have significant experience leading a team of hair and make up artists on larger shoots. I am good at working in a busy environment and love the sense of achievement at the end of a shoot day when we have delivered the brief. I also enjoy keeping up with hair and make up trends, understanding how best to interpret and use these commercially.
Spotting projects I’ve been part of out on billboards or online is still a big thrill.
